Education on Homosexuality
As a Christian, I am deeply saddened by the attitudes some fellow Christians have towards homosexuals. While we cite the old cliché “Love the sinner; hate the sin,” we often display a hatred for both. Unfortunately, we have sent a strong message to the gay community, interpreted as, “God hates you.” What a tragedy! Our methods have repelled countless people: turning them off to Christians in general, and ultimately, to the God we claim to serve. Jesus said that Christians would be known by their love. Are we known in the gay community by our love? It is my prayer that this will someday be the case. My mission is to educate Christians on the issue of homosexuality. I believe that if we understand the factors that contribute to a homosexual orientation, we will be more compassionate towards homosexuals and more effective in modeling God’s love to this community. After all, God’s love is what people so desperately need, and it is God’s love that draws us and transforms us.
